Criminal Cases
The Moreau Town Court has Trial Jurisdiction over Misdemeanors or Violations arising out of incidents which are alleged to have occurred in the Town of Moreau. The Town Court also has Preliminary Jurisdiction over Felony cases. At the first court appearance, which is called the Arraignment, the Judge advises the defendant of the charges pending in the Court and what his/her rights are. If the defendant cannot afford an attorney, he or she can apply to be represented by the Public Defender.

Wedding Requests
Wedding requests are available and can be done by appointment only. In New York State, Town Judges may perform civil wedding ceremonies. To schedule a wedding, Judge Alden and Judge McCabe can be contacted at (518)793-3188.  The court clerks will get your basic information to schedule a wedding.  You must have your wedding license, issued by a Town or City CLERK (Not the Court) not more than 60 days nor less than 24 hours for the wedding to be solemnized. There is a $100.00 fee paid to the Judge for the wedding ceremony.
